The Las Vegas Raiders’ DE made history as the first openly gay active NFL player and will now be honored as an important presenter for the Chicago Bears on the Draft Day.

Carl Nassib, the former lineman for the Raiders, announced his retirement in September 2023 while he was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a second stint. Since then, there have been little to no connections between Nassib to the NFL. Thus, he’s all set to make a return now but not in a jersey as fans are used to seeing him in.

As per a recent report, Carl Nassib is going to be the announcer of the Chicago Bears’ 2nd Round Draft pick. Back in 2021, he openly revealed that he was gay and since then he has become one of the very few LGBTQ+ icons in the sport. Now, he will be able to scale new heights as he’s going to get a platform unlike any other.

Joining him on stage will be Peggy Rajski, the Interim chief executive officer of The Trevor Project. In a June 21 Instagram post, the former Buccaneers’ linebacker shared the news of his coming out of the closet, where he mentioned being a part of the Trevor Project. He had said, “I just think that representation and visibility is so important. I’m going to do my best and do my part to cultivate a culture that’s accepting, that’s compassionate and I’m going to start by donating $100,000 to The Trevor Project.

Furthermore, the NFL extended its support to Nassib and promised to match his $100,000 donation to the Trevor Project. In yet another huge move, they are letting the organization gain the spotlight on one of America’s largest stages. With all that said, Nassib wants to return to his alma mater as a board member as his next big venture in his life post-retirement.

He captioned the post by writing, “Hey Penn State family! I am officially running for a seat on the PSU Board of Trustees. I was recently asked to join and it was too special to pass up. If you are a PSU alum or have attended PSU please click/share the link in my bio to nominate me. This is super exciting and the window ends on 2/25 so hurry up! #PSU #pennstate“. Now that he’ll take the stage on the NFL Draft day on 25th April, he might just rake in more voters for his election campaign.
