OJ Simpson has voiced his opinions on USC’s defense time and again, blaming their defeats on their dismal defense. But with the dismissal of the Trojans’ defensive coordinator, will Caleb Williams be able to turn his team around to prove OJ Simpson’s insight to the world?

OJ Simpson raises a critical question

The retired NFL star began his video stating, “I’m normally not an ‘I told you so guy’ but today I’m gonna be.” OJ Simpson reveals in his video about the worst assistant coaches and brings in the recent firing of USC Trojans’ defensive coordinator Alex Grinch with the caption, “Been saying it all along.”

After a season of dreary defensive performance from USC, OJ Simpson says he’s at a loss for reasoning on what could have been on the former USC defensive coordinator’s mind. And he further added, “But he’s gone now so I’m not gonna hop on that anymore.” According to OJ Simpson, despite the last 27-36 defeat against Oregon, USC played the defense a lot better without Alex Grinch for the first time this season.

The 76-year-old NFL veteran takes the voice of many fans who are as curious to know what could’ve been the outcome if USC started the season without Alex Grinch. Would they be in the same fate as they are now? Or would history change? As for the remainder of the season, Inside linebackers coach Brian Odom and defensive line coach Shaun Nua will serve as the co-defensive coordinators for USC.

USC Trojans lose first game without Alex Grinch

Just like OJ Simpson always said, USC’s losses are “not a lack of effort” on Caleb Williams’ part. After the last game, USC has lost four of its last five games, and the next game against their rival UCLA Bruins will be a thrilling game to watch. But can any team suddenly change their defensive strategy that they’ve put in practice all season in just a week? That’s highly unlikely.

Following their last 27-36 defeat without Alex Grinch, USC has lost the Pac-12 title to Dan Lanning’s 9-1 Oregon Ducks. Oregon star Bo Nix was the star player of the game, accounting for 412 yards and four TDs. As for Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams, he completed with 291 yards and one touchdown.

Although USC lost to Oregon in the last game, fresh out of their defensive coordinator, they still have some time to prepare their defense before their next game against UCLA on Saturday. If they win this final game of the season, it would lead OJ Simpson’s perspective in the right direction that the defensive style of USC is to be blamed for their losses.
