The former football quarterback, Colin Kaepernick might return. Pushing for a comeback through his socials and daily training, the millionaire QB has finally made a move. After being out of the league for over six years, the quarterback expressed his desire to return to the NFL.

Recently, Kaepernick wrote a letter to the New York Jets requesting a shot at the QB position. However, due to such a long hiatus, there’s less chance for Kaepernick to make a comeback into the league. But analyst Pat McAfee suggested his return is possible and that too with a benefit of no less than six figures. Now that’s an intriguing news to ponder over.

Pat McAfee’s estimations

In The Pat McAfee Show, the analyst discussed Kaepernick’s wish to play again and suggested that he could try in the XFL. With that in mind, McAfee began breaking down the compensation he would receive in the growing league. Keeping the practice squad’s paycheck in mind, the analyst’s calculations came to $11,500 a week, which through further calculations came to around $207,000.

The XFL will be able to pay six figures though, to Colin Kaepernick. They’ll also, I assume, put them in a situation where he’ll have a good offense because they’ll have him on prime-time. They’ll want to do that if he’s already saying ‘I’m rolling The Proven at the practice squad’, it’s like I just hope you get a chance to prove it at all. Why not just let the XFL run the business around you a little bit and you get back on a football field?” said the analyst.

Colin Kaepernick, though, remains committed and is pushing for a comeback in the NFL. He has expressed it very clearly through his interviews, letters, and social media. The former QB’s effort to write a letter to the Jets further emphasized his dedication. But why the Jets?

Why did Colin Kaepernick choose the Jets?

The once again aspiring quarterback, Kaepernick, wrote a letter dated September 21, to Joe Douglas, the general manager of the New York Jets. He stated in his letter that he would be “honored and extremely grateful” if he could get the opportunity to lead the practice squad. Rapper J Cole released the letter on his Instagram with Kaep’s permission.

Kaep chose to write to the Jets as he could see his chance to add depth to the team with the four-time MVP, Aaron Rodgers injured. He expressed that he wants to do this with the only purpose of getting the team’s defense prepared every week. With competitors like Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts on other teams, Kaepernick believes he can provide the Jets with a truer read on the more versatile and athletic quarterbacks they would face over the next three games.

With that asset on the team, the Jets might actually consider Colin Kaepernick as the practice squad lead. It just highlights Kaep’s passion, so much so that he’s even willing to join in as a backup. Do you think the New York Jets will give him a chance?
