Robert Griffin III shares a record-breaking Madden cover idea

Former quarterback Robert Griffin III aka RGIII recently took to social media to celebrate Taylor Swift’s record-breaking success. “Taylor Swift’s new album The Tortured Poets Department SHATTERED the Spotify record for most streamed album in a single day in 2024 in less than 12 hours” he posted. Meanwhile, RG III also gave a cheeky proposal that “There is no doubt that this Madden Cover would lead to the greatest selling Madden Game of all time.” And he shared a picture of Taylor Swift kissing her boyfriend Travis Kelce, as a potential cover idea.

This suggestion might seem peculiar since Madden covers usually feature famous NFL stars. The last few covers featured iconic quarterbacks like Josh Allen, Tom Brady, and Patrick Mahomes. Madden NFL uses these famous faces to promote their video game series for the whole year. But there’s no denying that RGIII has a point here. Taylor Swift on the cover would be a huge marketing coup for the game. Her massive fanbase could bring in a whole new audience for Madden.

Now, putting Taylor Swift on the Madden cover would be a bold acknowledgment of her influence on the NFL.  But the “Madden Curse” is quite real; star athletes featured on the cover often face setbacks in their careers. Obviously, Swifties wouldn’t want that for their idol. Yet, Taylor’s stardom is so massive, that she might just be the one to break the curse. She’s already dominating both the NFL and the pop world, proving her global appeal as a truly marketable icon.
