Just 11 games into the season and Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich sees the end of his coaching career. The Panthers have sunk to the bottom of the record with just one win out of ten losses under Reich. The last 17-10 loss against the 4-7 Tennessee Titans not only saw the firing of their head coach but also witnessed an intriguing replacement interest.

Greg Olsen confirms his interest in coaching the Panthers

A recent Twitter update revealed that Greg Olsen, who played TE with the Panthers from 2011-19, “would be interested in the Panthers head coaching job.” But the decision lies in the hands of David Tepper whether or not he would approach their former player to serve as the Panthers head coach after Reich’s dismissal. After all, the 1-10 season record doesn’t need any more blunders from any aspect.

Greg Olsen played for the Panthers for nine seasons and won three Pro Bowls. He became the first NFL TE to have at least 1,000 receiving yards for three back-to-back seasons. And although he definitely made a mark with the Panthers and is filled with vigor and interest for the job, Olsen’s coaching experience is down to zero in both college and the NFL although he served as a coach to his son’s Pop Warner team. So, can he please Tepper if he manages to grab the job? After all, Frank Reich is the sixth coach that he fired in his six years as the Panthers owner with a record of 30-63.

Considering his bad record at Carolina, David Tepper has had enough after Frank Reich failed to win the last game. Right after the game against the Titans ended on Sunday, he announced the firing of the head coach. Tepper hired Reich in the hopes that he would transform the team’s dismal offense and prepare Bryce Young and DJ Moore for a Super Bowl hope. After four more consecutive losses following the starting six losing streaks, Reich had to call it quits with the Panthers.

This season, Frank Reich is the second NFL head coach to be fired after Las Vegas Raiders former head coach Josh McDaniels. With 11 games, he also holds the record for the second-shortest regular-season head coaching career in the NFL after Pete McCulley with 9.

Greg Olsen entering as the new Panthers head coach will blow the social media because of his inexperience as well as the stakes that are on the Panthers. As the NFL world waits in suspense over who will be the next head coach, we can only wait for Tepper’s statement.
