The legendary head coach Nick Saban shocked the football fans by retiring in January. But he’s not taking his post-retirement life easy. The former Alabama HC has been seen at his old team’s spring practices. Also, he’s been enjoying simple things like doing “chores” around the house and playing golf. But it’s not all relaxation — he’s also landed a new job hosting for ESPN.

Saban is set to join “College GameDay” this football season while making his network debut at the NFL Draft later this month. Excitingly, new reports suggest his friend and fellow coaching icon, Bill Belichick, will also join ESPN for a special Draft Day appearance. With all this buzz ahead, a fan recently showed that the Alabama-Tennessee rivalry is still alive. A Tennessee fan recently caught Nick Saban off guard with a spirited chant during a golf outing, leaving the usually calm coach speechless for a moment.

Nick Saban was stunned by a fan while golfing

Retirement hasn’t slowed Nick Saban down as he found his passion for golf. A recent social media post showed Coach Saban golfing in Tennessee where he was briefly surprised when a fan shouted “Go Vols!” (cheering the Tennessee Vols). Saban might have just smiled and walked away, but the rivalry between his team and the Tennessee Volunteers is a classic NFL tale.

The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Tennessee Volunteers have a rivalry as old as time. It all started with a 6-6 tie in their very first game in 1901. Since then, these teams have clashed on the field 105 times, with Alabama holding the lead victories.  Sometimes, even their coaches reflected the rivalry, openly challenging for the top spot. It looks like the feud still continues even after legendary coach Nick Saban’s retirement. Now keeping this rivalry aside, Saban is now set to make his ESPN debut alongside another iconic coach, Bill Belichick.

Meanwhile, Pat McAfee is putting his own spin on “The Pat McAfee Show Draft Spectacular.” It will air on YouTube, as well as ESPN+ during the first night of the draft. Excitingly, the six-time Super Bowl-winning coach Bill Belichick will join McAfee as a draft analyst. Belichick also enthusiastically told McAfee, “I’m looking forward to it.”

ESPN already has a deep roster of reporters and sportscasters, but adding these legendary coaches is a huge win for fans. It would be amazing to see Belichick and Saban together on a broadcast, analyzing games or sharing stories from their incredible careers. While it might not happen immediately, both coaches are now in the same network, making the possibility even more exciting.
