Almost 3 decades after retiring from the NFL, Jim Kelly lives his life entertaining the fans. He is part of Buffalo Bills folklore, particularly after the franchise retired jersey number 12 in his honor. He still holds the record for the second-highest number of yards gained per completion in a single game (44), established in 1995. On Sunday, October 6th, fans were in for a great surprise.

He visited the Hamburg Lowe’s Home Improvement store from 12 to 1:30 for the NFL/Lowe’s trailer event and a meet-and-greet. The legend shared the photos from the event on Instagram stories. In the story, the 65-year-old looked great while posing wearing sunglasses with a white tee and dark navy blue jeans. But he proudly showed off the golden chicken wing necklace. “Great day at Lowe’s, and check out the gold chicken wing necklace. 😂,” he mentioned in his IG story. It wasn’t the only photo.
Kelly couldn’t stop the flow of emotions upon seeing the enthusiastic fans. And Bills Mafia has always been passionate about the legend. One female fan came to the event wearing a number 12 jersey. The former quarterback had to pose with her. So, he shared the photo with the caption, “Great to see everyone today, and a #12 jersey too. GO BILLS!” And the legend did not stop there.

He shared many IG stories showing passionate fans. One photo had a young fan wearing Josh Allen‘s jersey number 17. However, the fans’ love for their hero was unlimited. Families posed with him, and when one of them posed alongside the legend. “A big thank you to Lowe’s and everyone who stopped by today…now let’s GO BUFFALO! 🦬🏈,”Jim Kelly wrote in the caption of that IG story.

Yet, this wasn’t the only meet and greet. Almost a day before Sunday, on Friday and Saturday (October 3rd and 4th), he was a part of the bigger group of both current and retired Bills players for an event named Big Show Public Signing. Apart from Jim Kelly, it included wide receiver Khalil Shakir, running back James Cook, and former wide receiver Andre Reed.
The event took place at The Wings Meeting Place, 3964 California Rd, Orchard Park, NY 14127, where many people attended the event. Even after 29 years, he is still a prominent voice of the Bills Mafia.
Jim Kelly believes in Josh Allen and Sean McDermott
The current QB-HC duo of QB Josh Allen and head coach Sean McDermott has done a good job. They were 4-0 before losing the Week 5 game against the Patriots in the closing seconds because of a field goal. Although fans wanted the head coach to be fired, Jim Kelly has been a believer for long time.
“Buffalo Bills don’t need much publicity,” Jim Kelly had said back in July this offseason. But he did acknowledge that the QB-HC duo has brought attention to the AFC East franchise. The legend added, “They’ve gotten a lot of attention over the last three years. Thanks to Josh Allen and Coach McDermott, they’ve done a pretty good job.”

Back in Jim Kelly’s days, the Bills were known for mixing hard work with a little fun. Today’s team under head coach Sean McDermott is different. They’re already one of the league’s top teams, and most of that is because of quarterback Josh Allen.
That’s why he was excited about their chances in the 2025 season. Kelly claimed that the Bills are close to something special. “We have everything it takes,” he said. “It’s just about taking it one game at a time.” So, the Bills Mafia is excited and want Super Bowl this time. Can the current team do which no one has ever done in their history? Stay tuned as we will keep bringing more news for you.
