Essentials Inside The Story
- Jalen Hurts has the resume of a winner
- But behind the success, something inside the Philadelphia Eagles feels unsettled
- With cracks showing in the offense, this upcoming season might redefine Hurts' entire story in Philly
With the Philadelphia Eagles, Jalen Hurts has stacked records, including wins, deep playoff runs, and even a Super Bowl MVP, yet what once felt like a steady championship setup now looks a bit uneasy. The success is still there, but the situation around him is starting to feel less settled.

In a segment on ESPN’s “Get Up” this week, insider Jeremy Fowler revealed that there are individuals within the Eagles organization who feel there has been tension regarding Hurts’ influence on the offense. That’s when Robert Griffin III stepped in and strongly pushed back against the unnamed voices that were criticizing him.
“Hiding behind anonymous sources is COWARDLY,” RGIII wrote on X. “If you won’t put your name behind trying to tear down and character assassinate Super Bowl MVP Jalen Hurts, then you shouldn’t be given a platform for your bs to be heard.”
He didn’t stop there, adding, “Jalen Hurts is one of the most under-appreciated winners in the NFL and one of the most disrespected Super Bowl MVPs ever. The Jalen Hurts hit pieces are getting out of hand and ridiculous.”

Tony's Top Prospects For QB For EAGLES
Hurts has shown he is still what Eagles fans hope for. Over the last two seasons, Jalen Hurts had QB Impact scores of 89.9 in 2024 and 78.3 in 2025, ranking him 15th in the league. But the Eagles’ offense took a small step back, moving from 14th to 16th in team impact rankings, which sheds light on what Fowler talked about.
“I came away with the notion that Jalen Hurts, despite immense success, is facing some frustrations now within his own building,” Fowler said last week. “Mainly, sources point to an issue with coachability; that even in 2024, when they won the Super Bowl, coaches trying to implement new schemes, motions, and shifts, maybe more things under center, Hurts has pushed back to those at times.”
Still, it is hard to blame Hurts for everything. The Eagles’ offense has felt a bit off at times, even after their big wins. And Hurts put up amazing numbers in 2024 and earned a Super Bowl MVP, plus several Pro Bowl selections and an All-Pro honor.

Beyond that, his resume keeps growing. He holds multiple records, including the highest number of rushing touchdowns by a quarterback in a postseason game with 3, the most rushing yards by a quarterback in a Super Bowl with 72 yards, and is tied for scoring the most points by an individual in a Super Bowl with 20 points.
So while his impact is clear, this upcoming season in Philly could decide how this story truly unfolds.
Jalen Hurts’ growing tension adds pressure on the Eagles’ offensive direction
An ESPN report by Tim McManus and Jeremy Fowler shows that there’s more to the situation with Jalen Hurts than just rumors. It highlights a crucial moment for both the quarterback and the coaching staff of the Philadelphia Eagles.
“The failed play accentuates the crossroads that await Hurts and the Eagles’ coaching staff in 2026,” Tim McManus and Jeremy Fowler reported.
Jalen Hurts also had a rough season statistically. He ended the season 16th in passing yards with 3,224, and his 7.1 yards per attempt was the lowest of his career, ranking 27th in the NFL. He also saw his completion percentage fall, ranking 34th with 65%.
At the same time, the concern goes beyond one player.
“The passing operation has fallen into deep ruts over the past several seasons, forcing the most expensive offensive roster in football to become overly reliant on the success of Saquon Barkley and the ground game. It has been an ongoing source of angst for some internally, most publicly expressed by star receiver A.J. Brown, the subject of trade talks this offseason.”
It appears lately like Hurts is part of a larger picture. The Eagles have relied on their running game and some outstanding plays, but there has been nothing consistent with their passing game. When Kellen Moore was in charge of the plays in 2024, the Eagles ranked in the top 10 with 6,242 total yards. However, the following year, with coordinator Kevin Patullo, that number took a big hit, falling to 5,291 yards and landing them closer to the lower end of the league.
Also, the breakdown wasn’t just in the air. There was a lot of miscommunication on offense, and the run game felt it, too. In 2024, the team’s run game produced 3,048 yards, but in 2025, that number dropped to 1,908, which shows the offense had become one-dimensional.
However, the Eagles still have good players, and Hurts still gets results, so let’s see how they approach the coming season.
