Deion Sanders isn’t hiding the hard truth: both of his sons are running uphill battles in pro football, and their father is calling for faith. Rookie safety Shilo Sanders remains a free agent despite a recent workout with the San Francisco 49ers. The undrafted Colorado product was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after the preseason finale in late August.

He showed potential in camp and preseason to turn heads. Logging 83 defensive snaps and 46 coverage snaps. Yet a roster spot hasn’t stuck. Meanwhile, Shedeur Sanders is living the awkward glory of being a famous third-string QB. The Browns drafted him in the fifth round, and he’s spent the first five games behind Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel while Cleveland sits 1–4.
Through it all, Coach Prime is public with a message meant to steady both sons and everyone watching: “Stop doubting GOD & doubting Yourself! GOD is incredible, consistent, faithful & kind. You have the same attributes but you’re not consistent. You’re inconsistent because u allow your emotions to influence your decisions. Change that & other things will change! #CoachPrime.” The post equal parts spiritual pep talk and coaching on mental discipline, landed as a reminder that Deion’s approach blends faith with a demand for consistency.

Off-field life has been part of Shilo’s story since the cut. A video circulated of him telling a fan who asked for a donation, “Bro, I just got cut from the NFL… I don’t got no money, bro. You got to go ask like Shedeur.” Half-joke, half-reality. Shilo has posted on YouTube about pursuing other interests beyond football, saying the league is “not for long” and that he’s cultivated music, acting, and modeling as parallel paths.

He even leaned into entertainment recently with a lighthearted collab alongside YouTuber Danny Duncan at Gatorland: picking matching outfits, feeding alligators and playing a bit where Shilo impersonated his dad, asking a passerby, “Do you know who Deion Sanders is? That’s me. I’m Prime Time.”
The Toronto Argonauts hold his CFL negotiating rights, so Canada remains an option if another NFL call never comes. That mix of hustle and personality may be Shilo’s strongest asset if NFL doors remain closed.

Deion Sanders’ sons face crossroads as NFL opportunities
On the other hand, Shedeur made headlines for declining to comment when asked about the Browns’ quarterback depth chart. A viral refusal that only amplified trade chatter around the league.

That noise has even reached celebrities. After the Las Vegas Raiders’ 40–6 loss to Indianapolis, superstar Damian Lillard urged his team to act, posting on X, “Time to gone ahead and trade for Shedeur man smfh,” and adding, “It’s time to get Shedeur on the team and get ready for the future.” The Raiders, who’ve struggled this season, are just one of many franchises that might offer a change of scenery. Maybe even more snaps for Shedeur. Still, Cleveland’s brass isn’t signaling any immediate plan to play him. So patience may drive the next move.

Bottom line: the Sanders saga is far from over. Shilo’s NFL future is thinly open, while his growing social media presence and entertainment connections offer alternative pathways. Shedeur’s situation revolves around timing and opportunity, where outside clubs and his fans want him playing. Talent matters, but mindset determines how far it carries you.
