Drew Brees has been vocal about his NFL broadcasting aspirations for years. After a short and forgettable stint with NBC in 2021, Brees is getting another chance to revive his broadcast career. The NFL legend is set to call the Packers-Giants game at MetLife Stadium this Sunday for Fox. And welcoming him is none other than NFL legend Tom Brady, who is fired up for the long-awaited transition.

Brady quickly commented after Brees dropped a message on his Instagram about his FOX debut for the Green Bay Packers vs. the New York Giants game.

“Big storylines on both sides… Can’t wait to talk football with you all!” he wrote to hype up the fans

“Yesssss,” Brady wrote and added fire emojis to show his excitement.

Well, the hype is understandable. Brees’s brief breakdown of how this matchup could turn out not only flexes his analyst chops but also raises the tension heading into Week 11. The Packers’ offense still has plenty to prove, while the Giants return to the field with a new quarterback, Jameis Winston, after Jaxson Dart’s injury.

“Green Bay’s dropped two in a row. They need to get back on track,” Brees said in the clip that he shared. “And then New York football Giants, new head coach Mike Kafka trying to make his presence known. And then Jameis Winston getting the start. So let’s see what it’s going to look like. It’s going to be some fireworks, you know that.”

There were glimpses of his broadcasting potential when he made guest appearances for different networks. Earlier, he stepped in as a guest to fill in for Julian Edelman in Week 3 on “Fox NFL Kickoff” and “Fox NFL Sunday.” The former Saints’ QB has also appeared quite a few times on FS1’s “The Herd.”

Brees was also a weekly contributor on ESPN, and has made occasional appearances on “First Take” since September this year. In his new role with FOX, he will slide into the network’s No. 3 booth after Mark Sanchez was let go.

Drew Brees will call Netflix’s Christmas Day game

FOX’s ban on its on-air NFL talent working for competitors is well known. As per sources, ESPN also seemed to have the same hesitation. So, there were questions about whether he would appear for the Netflix job that he secured before officially joining Fox.

But as per reports (by Michael McCarthy), the network has allowed Brees to keep his previously arranged Netflix job. So, on Christmas Day, Brees will call the Detroit Lions vs. the Minnesota Vikings game. He will join Noah Eagle of NBC Sports for the day.

There will be another crew that will call the Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Commanders game. Ian Eagle, Nate Burleson, and Matt Ryan are reported to be part of that group.

So, this year’s schedule is set for Brees.
