LeSean McCoy knows what it feels like to be cut. In his final year with the Buffalo Bills in 2019, a contract dispute pushed him out the door. Years later, in July 2025, FOX Sports did something similar, canceling his talk show and letting him go. “Damn, fired on my day off, WELL put me on the trading block,” he joked at the time on X, turning disappointment into a punchline. However, that resilience has always defined him. Just as he bounced back on the field, McCoy is already finding a new spotlight off it.

His latest move, joining Max Kellerman and Mike Coppinger on Inside The Ring, proves that setbacks don’t keep him down for long. First, McCoy reshared a post from Inside The Ring on Instagram. It introduced him as an official host alongside commentators Max Kellerman and Mike Coppinger: “Introducing your official hosts for Inside The Ring! 🍿 Max Kellerman, Mike Coppinger, LeSean McCoy.”

Additionally, McCoy added his own voice to the announcement: “I threw jabs and hooks in sparring, but never professional. This new role highlights McCoy’s adaptability. After retiring from the NFL in 2021, he has explored multiple paths in sports media. Hosting a boxing show lets him stay close to competition while connecting directly with fans. For context, McCoy’s football career was nothing short of remarkable. He played his college football at Pitt, spending his freshman and sophomore seasons there before being drafted by the Eagles in 2009. Selected in the second round, McCoy played six seasons with the Eagles, from 2009 to 2014, and remains the team’s all-time leading rusher with 6,792 yards.

Moreover, McCoy’s career highlights include leading the NFL in rushing yards (314 carries) and rushing yards (1,607) in 2013. After being traded to the Bills for Kiko Alonso, he played from 2015 to 2018. He later won back-to-back Super Bowls with the Chiefs in 2019 and the Buccaneers in 2020 before retiring. These experiences shaped his perspective and his approach to sports media today.

So, by hosting Inside The Ring, McCoy’s way of continuing to engage audiences will give the fans a superb experience. However, this exciting step comes after a challenging period in McCoy’s media journey. His new role feels even more earned because of what came before.

Fired but unshaken: LeSean McCoy’s exit from FOX

Back in July, McCoy faced an unexpected hurdle. FOX Sports fired him after cancelling his talk show, The Facility. The program, which premiered on September 3, 2024, ended on July 11, 2025, along with several other low-viewership shows. On July 14, McCoy addressed it on Twitter with humor and confidence: “Speak and Facility was a blast. I got some announcements coming soon, but one thing I do know from 🏈 is TALENT & DEDICATION always wins. See u sooooon.” He even compared it to his NFL days with Buffalo.
