Scott was a 2018 NFL Draft pick from the sixth round by the New Orleans Saints, but he was waived from the squad before landing a new deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, where he became a fan favorite.
At the age of 23, he played 2 games in his rookie season (2018) after beginning the year with the Saints. Beginning with the 2019 season, he became a pivotal backup running back for the Eagles, playing regularly. While he wasn’t a starter, he made quite an impact coming from the bench.
Even though he was signed by teams like the New Orleans Saints, the Los Angeles Rams, and the Pittsburgh Steelers, he only took the gridiron as an Eagles player, featuring in 75 games. Throughout his career, he amassed 1,295 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.

After his chapter with the Eagles ended in 2023, he was signed by the Rams in 2024 but was released before the season opener. Then the Steelers signed him to the practice squad, but he failed to make the final roster. In the 2025 campaign, the 30-year-old wasn’t signed by any team. With two years of no action, his NFL future looked doubtful, which was why the retirement decision came.
While he made a lasting impression as a rotational player, he became an indomitable powerhouse playing against the New York Giants in divisional matchups.
The legacy of the “Giant Killer”
‘As NFC East rivals, the Eagles and Giants go head-to-head twice a year. During his playing days in Philadelphia, Boston Scott was the preferred choice against their divisional rival because of his superior record.
His nickname was no exaggeration. Against the Giants, Scott transformed. In just 10 games, he racked up 422 rushing yards and a staggering 10 touchdowns. To put that in perspective, nearly a third of his entire career rushing yardage and over half of his touchdowns came at the expense of a single divisional rival.
While his career stats may not jump off the page, for Eagles fans, Boston Scott’s legacy is cemented not in numbers but in the consistent torment he inflicted on a bitter rival. The ‘Giant Killer’ may have hung up his cleats, but his legend lives on in the NFC East.
