Mark Sanchez, a 10-year NFL veteran, made his mark by leading the New York Jets to back-to-back AFC Championship Games in his first two seasons, a feat that cemented his place in football lore. After hanging up his cleats, Sanchez found a new home in the broadcast booth, joining FOX Sports in July 2021 as a game analyst. This season, he was set to return to the booth, ready to bring his insight and energy to NFL fans once again. But on Saturday in Indianapolis, that plan took a sudden turn with Sanchez being stabbed and arrested while in town to call the Colts vs. Raiders game. FOX had no choice but to look for a replacement as he recovers, and the football world watches in disbelief.

Taking to his X account, ESPN insider Adam Schefter shared, “The FOX broacasting crew now calling Sunday’s Raiders-Colts game will be play-by-play announcer Chris Myers and analyst Brady Quinn.”

Chris Myers started his career as a 16-year-old when he created his own radio show and interviewed sporting legends like Muhammad Ali and Don Shula. Over the years, he worked for ESPN before joining FOX in 1998. In his 11-year stint with the network, Myers was the host of Up Close and shouldered responsibilities of an anchor and reporter for SportsCenter. His exceptional work won him an Emmy in the Sports Features category in 1990. Myers’ co-broadcaster Brady Quinn is relatively new to the industry, but comes with an impressive resume nonetheless.

A two-time All-America quarterback at Notre Dame, Quinn held the No. 1 spot in the school in passing attempts (1,602), completions (929), yards (11,762) and touchdown passes (95). Fox brought him on board just ahead of the 2014 season to analyze both college football and NFL games. He has been a part of Big Noon Kickoff since the show’s very beginning.

Both will be in Indianapolis, where the Raiders (3-1) will face off against the Colts (3-1) at Lucas Oil Stadium. While the league is waiting for the Primetime games in October, many in the league are concerned about the ex-Jets QB.

Mark Sanchez facing legal trouble

FOX was hoping for a good show in Indianapolis as Mark Sanchez had already landed in the city. However, things went south in the early hours of October 4th. According to FOX59/CBS4, the ex-Jets QB told a 69-year-old delivery driver to move his car in an alley outside Loughmiller’s Pub & Eatery.

Allegedly, the analyst attacked the driver in anger, who first tried to stop him using pepper spray, but when it failed, he took out his knife in self-defense. Loughmiller’s bartender Carrie Swan claimed that her manager Scott Bennett found him bleeding, brought him inside the bar and started putting towels on the wound to stop bleeding.

He was later taken to a local hospital in critical condition, where surgery was also performed to treat his wounds. Allegedly, he did not cooperate with responding officers. They later charged him with misdemeanor counts of battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication. He remains hospitalized and stable and had not been booked into the Marion County Adult Detention Center as of Saturday night. The delivery driver, not publicly identified, was also significantly injured during the altercation.

As soon as the news broke out, the football world was worried and showed its concern on social media.”Sending our thoughts and love to Mark Sanchez and his family. Hoping for a speedy recovery, 6,” the NY Jets tweeted for their former QB, showing support in such a critical time.

While FOX found the replacement in time, they are also worried for the NFL analyst. It affects their coverage as Mark Sanchez is quite popular in the NFL world. “We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support,” the network also issued a statement for their analyst.

While fans are waiting for more updates, everyone is also hoping for them to be positive.
