Legendary lives are, at times, so fictional that their on-screen representations do not even require theatricality. Hall of Fame Detroit Lions running back Barry Sanders with a decade of success, retired abruptly in 1998, leaving behind a legacy of 10 Pro Bowls and numerous accolades. Despite being on the cusp of breaking Walter Payton’s rushing record, Sanders’ mysterious exit from the league remains undisclosed, adding an enigmatic chapter to his illustrious career. The legendary running back is teaming up with Amazon Prime Video for a documentary titled “Bye Bye Barry.” The documentary will delve into Sanders’ life and his pivotal decision to retire from professional football. In a social media announcement, Sanders shared glimpses of Sanders at Detroit’s Fox Theater.

Barry Sanders’ documentary is his “Thank you letter” 

Berry Sander’s life is full of legendary football moments and mystery. He was able to effectively roll his life into a reel for the NFL fans to gain never-before-witnessed glimpses from the athlete’s life. The legend recently took to his social media to share glimpses of his documentary’s premiere. “#ByeByeBarry is my thank you letter to @Lions and @NFL fans everywhere,” said the legendary athlete in his promotional post. He acknowledged his passion and dedication to the game of football, “As a kid I dreamed of being a football player. I gave my life to this game.” 

He concluded by voicing his appreciation to Amazon Studios and NFL Films for “helping me tell this story.”  The documentary will be available on the streaming service from Nov. 21 onwards. Sanders encouraged his fans to surely tune in and watch him deliver the truth behind his mysterious exit from the world of the NFL.
