Past animosity has been in the air for two Washington alumni since Monday. For Robert Griffin III and Jay Gruden, this week has been fueled with tweets roasting each other in ways only they could. The two haven’t seen eye to eye since Jay Gruden became Washington HC in 2014. They were together for two seasons from 2014-15 until RG3 joined the Cleveland Browns in 2016.

The two media enthusiasts aren’t willing to let their past lay dormant. RG3 just revealed a confession about the past news conference incident. He revealed why he criticized his teammates and his declaration didn’t sit well with Jay Gruden who has his own style of roasting the once-oft-injured QB.

Robert Griffin III and Jay Gruden continue their blame game

In a recent Twitter upload by Robert Griffin III, he exposed Jay Gruden saying, “The only reason I went to that press conference and said what I said, to challenge my teammates through that press conference was because Jay Gruden asked me to do that.” The former Washington QB added that the thing that hurt more was that his HC didn’t only not back him up, but he “burned” him in the media and the team meeting room in front of his teammates.

RG3, who is no stranger to media scrutiny, went on to say that for Jay Gruden to have asked him to do that and not get his back shows that he has “zero self-awareness and zero integrity.” To this exposure, Jay Gruden commented, “You really wanna play this game?” It didn’t take long for RG3 to retaliate with a response, “I’m not playing any games, I’m retired… I know where all your bodies are buried Jay. Don’t play with me.”

Minutes after RG3 uploaded this post, Jay Gruden threw shade at his former QB with a Twitter video of him racing a pigeon on the football field. He wrote, “Go race a pigeon.”
