Ryan Clark is a fan favorite in the broadcasting industry due to his genuineness and openness. However, Clark had a 13-year NFL career as an undersized, undrafted safety with a reputation for being a hard-hitter before he was well-known as an analyst. In a latest deep conversation, Clark talked candidly about the strange bond that developed between him and Tom Brady, his longtime opponent.

The specifics are still unclear, but Clark stated that all it took for the former Steelers’ safety to gain a great deal of respect and adoration for the great quarterback was a brief talk with Brady during a combined practice.

As the Patriots were practicing in the offseason, Clark struck up a long chat with Brady that would sow the seeds of an unexpected romance. “When I see Tom, like I remember the first real conversation we ever had was in my last year. Before the preseason game, we just talked for about thirty minutes while we were practicing with New England,” Clark said. He had no idea, though, that this harmless conversation would turn into an uncontrollable admiration for the opposition quarterback.

Clark’s respect for the team increased to the point that he was saying things that might not sit well with some Steelers fans. In his own words, “I called Troy Polamalu afterwards. I was like, bro, I got, I’m sorry. as though I love him. He would be my ideal quarterback. To play for and with Tom Brady would be my dream.” Clark felt obligated to make amends with his teammate for his confession.

Beyond team rivalries, Clark had respect for Brady. “I called Troy Polamalu afterwards. I was like, bro, I’m sorry. I’m in love with him,” Clark added. “I would want him to be my quarterback. To play for and with Tom Brady would be my dream.” Their mutual respect was an example of good sportsmanship.

I wanted to punch his little pretty face, that little pretty cleft Superman chin,” Clark laughed, revealing a more humorous side to their on-field battles. Their friendship served as a reminder of the friendship that may form between bitter rivals. In fact, Clark even wonders if Brady would make a great NFL analyst and he had nothing but good things to say.

“Do you think he’ll be a good analyst?”

In light of his growing affection for Brady, Clark was asked if he thought the seven-time Super Bowl winner would make a good broadcaster whenever he retired. Brady’s potential in the media environment was overwhelmingly endorsed by Clark’s response.

I’ll be honest. Tom Brady may talk about tying his shoes, I’ll listen to him,” declared Clark firmly. “Just to be honest, like Tom was like, ‘Yeah, you know, so before the game, I’d always begin with the left loop.’ I’d be like, man, I’m going to start tying my left loop too.”
