After a controversial 2023 season, where he was dealing with suspensions, scandals, and form, Jim Harbaugh eventually left the Michigan Wolverines for the LA Chargers. But, in addition to leaving the team himself, the Raiders HC ‘raided’ the team’s staff of 7 members after making his way to the Chargers.

Notable staff members lured away by Harbaugh include defensive coordinator Jesse Mangurten, defensive line coach Mike Elston, strength coach Ben Herbert, and Jay Harbaugh at the Los Angeles Chargers. This has resulted in a highly complicated situation at the hands of the newly appointed head coach, Sherrone Moore. This ‘ruthless‘ removal of his colleagues from the Wolverines has forced media outlets to question if things were even sour behind the scenes.

The tasks that Michigan must pay immediate attention to under the new coach

In the latest segment of the ‘Until Saturday‘ YouTube channel, host Austin Meek spoke about Harbaugh’s move after his team change, saying, “I don’t think it’s a real big surprise that Jim Harbaugh is pretty ruthless in trying to get everybody he can get from Michigan to join his staff but it certainly has created a challenge for Sherrone Moore as a first-time head coach now to build a new staff around him“. With over seven vacant spots on the coaching team, Moore has to complete the hiring process swiftly.

But as per The Athletic beat writers, Harbaugh’s actions, while ruthless, are completely understandable. As per Meek, Harbaugh’s top priority is winning football games, and if there’s anyone who can help him do it, he will take that chance.

In the meantime, Moore is also on a recruiting drive to fill the spots on his team roster after players like JJ McCarthy and Blake Corum left for the NFL draft.
