Jay Harbaugh joined the NFL but it’s not the Los Angeles Chargers! When Jim Harbaugh left Michigan to become the HC of the Chargers, there had been speculation that he might follow his father to LA like Jesse Minter and Ben Herbert. But the 34-year-old decided to walk his own path.

Nine years after serving Michigan, Jay Harbaugh has followed in Jim Harbaugh’s footsteps to return to the NFL. Before joining the Wolverines, he served as offensive quality control coach for his uncle John Harbaugh’s Baltimore Ravens from 2012 to 2014 when his father was the San Francisco 49ers HC. And now his return is special because he exceeded all speculations by forging his own path with another NFL franchise.

The Seattle Seahawks recently hired Jay Harbaugh as their new special teams coordinator. In his recent Twitter post, he expressed his gratitude to the Seahawks with the caption, “Thankful for this opportunity. Go Hawks.” His rich experience working with special teams makes him the perfect candidate for the position.

Since 2015, Jay Harbaugh has been performing well under his father’s leadership in Michigan for nine seasons. Over the years, he played various roles primarily as a special teams coach and coordinator. His commitment and dedication are obvious as he was the longest-tenured assistant coach on the 2023 staff.
