Michael Strahan retired from the NFL in 2007 and has since become a TV personality. But the 2x Daytime Emmy Award winner was one of the best NFL defensive players who was part of the New York Giants lineup in the Super Bowl victory over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in 2007. He is tied with TJ Watt for the most NFL single-season QB sacks with 22.5 in his 15 years in the professional league.

The 2001 NFL Defensive Player of the Year played his entire career solely with the Giants. Although he had impressive stats for the first 14 seasons winning seven Pro Bowls and being named First-Team All-Pro four times, among other achievements, it was only in his final season that he won a Super Bowl. And it not only improved his credibility, but it also changed an NBA legend’s perception of him.

Michael Strahan recently appeared on YouTube’s Bloomberg Originals to drop an interesting revelation on why he was on Charles Barkley’s “s**t list.”  When asked if winning the Super Bowl in 2007 made any difference in his life, he replied with a resounding “Heck yeah.” And this is the part where he revealed his first encounter with NBA star Charles Barkley just after his SB win. In the words of Strahan, the basketball legend told him, “You were on my s**t list… It was a list of guys who had great careers but never won s**t. But now you’re off my list.”

The SB champion added that Barkley dropped another truth with a touch of humor saying, “I’m even on my own list.” Like Strahan, the 1993 NBA MVP is another highly decorated basketball player with 11 NBA All-Star wins, 5x All-NBA First Team, and more. Despite playing 16 seasons for three NBA teams, Barkley never won an NBA Championship even to his retirement in 2000. So, he continues to rock his “s**t list” unlike Strahan whose 2007 SB win saved the day.

Throwback to Super Bowl XLII

The Super Bowl XLII that took place in Glendale, Arizona between the Giants and the Patriots became one of the greatest Super Bowl wins ever. Tom Brady and the Patriots entered the game as 12-point favorites after dominating the whole season without a single loss. The Giants were 10-6 seeking their third SB win in the franchise’s history.

Despite being heavily favored, the Giants managed to pull an upset as they won over the Patriots 17-14. Up to this day, this game is considered one of the biggest upsets in the history of professional North American sports. The Super Bowl XLII not only ranked 5th on NFL.com’s 100 Greatest Games, but it also staved off Strahan’s fate to remain on Barkley’s unceremonious list.
