But Sanders’ fiery passion reached new heights earlier this week when Hunter was snubbed for the Jim Thorpe Award, an honor for the best defensive back. Sanders, who won the award himself in 1988, didn’t mince words. Calling the omission ‘idiotic,’ he offered Hunter his own Thorpe trophy. “You can have mine. I ain’t using it,” Sanders quipped, slamming the decision to ignore Hunter’s brilliance on both sides of the ball.
