NFL legend Tom Brady is back in the headlines, teasing another potential comeback. He retired for the second time in 2023, but the GOAT is still hinting that he’s “not opposed” to returning if a team needs a last-minute quarterback. Brady even hinted at two potential teams: the Las Vegas Raiders and New England Patriots; the former team is his potential future ownership while the latter was his home for 20 years.

Of course, Brady will be 47 by the start of the 2024 season. While his legacy is untouchable, his last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wasn’t his best. Still, if anyone’s going to shake up the league with a surprise comeback, even for just the end of a season, it’s probably Brady. However, this potential comeback also faces some harsh reality checks from experts.

In a recent NFL on NBC video, former player Chris Simms gave his brutally honest opinion on Tom Brady’s potential comeback. “It’s over,” Simms said. He went on to add, “Go and move on with life, we’re 47.” Simms also expressed confusion about why Brady isn’t embracing retirement after such a long and legendary career. “I don’t know why he doesn’t,” Simms said.

Mike Floria added his own speculation, saying, “He’s looking for a way out; that’s my theory.” He believes Tom Brady’s analyst role with Fox Sports and his pursuit of ownership in the Raiders could cause problems. Thus according to him, Brady is trying to keep his options open for a potential future exit.

Brady can’t stay “retired” for long

Tom Brady‘s retirement plans keep changing. He first retired in February 2022, then changed his mind six weeks later to play another season with the Buccaneers. Now, he’s hinting at another possible return, saying, “I’m always going to be in good shape. I’ll always be able to throw the ball.” While his words may be more wishful thinking than reality, Brady’s post-retirement life is incredibly busy.

He’s invested in various sports teams, including the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces and English soccer club Birmingham City. Brady even owns a championship-winning electric boat racing team. On top of his investments, Brady signed a massive $375 million broadcasting deal with Fox Sports. He is all set to become their lead analyst in the fall of 2024. Meanwhile, he’s also clearing the hurdles to take over the ownership of LV Raiders in the future. It seems Brady will find a way to stay in the business, whether he’s on the field or not.
