The NBA season is moving to its end. The Indiana Pacers and New York Knicks are set to face off each other in the Eastern Conference Finals. The excitement is at its peak. A huge Pacers fan and ex-NFLer, Pat McAfee, is eagerly looking forward to the finale. He wants his team to win. Everywhere he goes, fans and his colleagues ask him the same question: Is he confident? Boy, oh boy! He isn’t afraid to endorse his team. Sometimes, he even crosses the line. It happened on the latest edition of WWE RAW.
On the May 19 episode of RAW, he sat alongside his co-announcer, Michael Cole. After interviewing Pacers’ point guard Tyrese Haliburton, Cole turned towards the former Colts legend and decided to spice up the atmosphere before the playoffs. While talking about the games, he said, “Two friends of WWE, Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers, Jaylen Brunson of the New York Knicks, massive WWE fans. Faceoff starting Wednesday night. Eastern Conference Finals of the NBA Playoffs. Pat with Indiana, I’m a massive New York Knicks fan, all the way back to 73.” Okay, but what followed next surprised all.
He then asked Pat McAfee, “Pat, I think we’ve got to bet on this?” The NFL legend was ready and promptly replied, “That’s right. The Pacers win, Cole will do an entire RAW episode in a tank top. And if the Knicks win, I will do an episode in a suit like Cole.” That was hilarious.

The ex-NFLer even took to X and posted the clip and wrote their bet. Fans will get to see the other side of one of them. Pat McAfee has never worn a suit on TV, while Cole has never been on TV in a tank top. The friendly wager is enough to divide the fans who are excitedly looking ahead.
The friendship has gotten deeper. Over the years in WWE, the former NFL punter has taken a stand for his friend on numerous occasions. The most recent one occurred when he fought against the former WWE champion for Cole.
Pat McAfee faced the ruthless WWE champion for Michael Cole
McAfee is involved in banters regularly. At the 20th WWE Backlash event in St. Louis, the Enterprise Center crowd cheered for the NFL legend dressed in warrior attire. He was set to battle the WWE champion, Gunther. It started when Gunther confronted Cole over their liking for Jey Uso on Night 1 of WrestleMania 41. But SmackDown GM Nick Aldis proposed the match.

As the match went on, both fought hard. But the former WWE Champion put a choke on Pat McAfee and put him to sleep, forcing the referee to signal to ring the bell. Cole felt disappointed. Even the NFL legend was distraught as he posted the clip on X and wrote, “Never tapped aht. #WWEBacklash.”
However, he later highlighted the strong bond between the ringside announcers. “I tried my best…Stand up for your people,” he wrote in an Instagram story after the match. Even though he lost, the crowd acknowledged his efforts and gave a standing ovation while clapping for his heroics. That’s the love he commands from the fans.
