Looks like this month really belongs to Pat McAfee! During the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, the former punter grabbed headlines after offering coach Mike McCarthy what looked like a vape. Sure, it stirred up some chatter, but nothing major came of it, at least in the NFL. The NBA, though? They weren’t as chill. They actually banned him from watching games. Now you must be wondering how that happened? Let’s break it down.

We are aware of the fact that Pat McAfee also breaks down NBA games in his podcast show, besides giving his analytical lens to the NFL. However, they banned the former punter from the recent Milwaukee Bucks vs Indiana Pacers game on April 29, 2025. Why?

Well, the reason behind it has nothing to do with his NFL’s drama. But it’s due to local broadcast restrictions. On Tuesday, McAfee shared an image of his TV, which clearly showed a blacked-out NBA playoff game between the Bucks and Pacers. Expressing his frustration, the former NFLer wrote: “This does feel like b——-.”

On April 29, fans in Wisconsin couldn’t watch the Bucks vs. Pacers playoff game on NBA TV or League Pass. Because FanDuel Wisconsin had the rights, and that blocked out national streams. Hence, Pat McAfee wasn’t happy and let it fly on X. The truth is, a lot of fans feel the same.

The NBA’s ratings have been dropping since 2016-17 by 7%, and this kind of stuff is part of the reason. People just want to watch their teams. However, some are now using VPNs or turning to sites like Streameast just to get around it. It’s a mess, but it shows how broken the NBA policy or system really is for everyday fans.

Now, there wasn’t much he could do to shake off the frustration. But there’s one place he can let that anger out – right in the ring.

Pat McAfee is set to take his revenge!

Yep, Pat McAfee’s stepping back into the fight game, and this time, it’s personal. He’s going up against Gunther after that wild choking incident on Raw after Mania. On this week’s Raw, WWE gave him the mic, and man, he didn’t hold back. He talked about how far he’s come as a broadcaster, how maybe he got a little too comfortable, forgot his roots. But deep down? He’s still a fighter. Always has been. And when someone messes with his people like Michael Cole – he’s not just gonna sit back.

That’s why, when Cole and McAfee faced Gunther’s wrath after the professional wrestler’s loss last week against Jey Uso, the Indianapolis Colts’ former punter wants GUNTHER. He wants to settle it in the ring. That’s when SmackDown GM Nick Aldis stepped in, filling in for Adam Pearce, and made it official. No back-alley brawl, and no chaos. A real, sanctioned match at WWE Backlash in St. Louis on May 10.

However, on the other side, Gunther clearly isn’t taking Pat McAfee seriously. After the match was announced on Raw, where McAfee challenged him following that whole mess with Michael Cole, Gunther finally broke his silence. He didn’t say much – just dropped two emojis on social media: one laughing, one dead. That’s it. He just straight-up mocked the whole thing. So, all in all, it’s safe to say, The Ring General thinks this match is going to be a joke. But come Backlash, we’ll see who’s laughing!
