The 124th edition of the Army-Navy game is ready to take America by storm! It’s like a completely different atmosphere this time around for the game. More than 700 midshipmen have arrived at the Rhode Island Convention Center on Friday ahead of the game at Gillette Stadium.

Preparation for the arrival of such a huge number of midshipmen involves a humongous amount of cots, eating spaces, showers, and other facilities at the Rhode Island Convention Center. But fans are not happy with the sparse preparations made by the organizers and have voiced out their strong opinions on X.

Ahead of the iconic Army-Navy game taking place on the 9th of December 2023, the event is getting marred with some controversy. Front Office Sports shared a short clip on X showing sparse cots and linens stretched out in the convention center’s halls. While U.S. Rep. Seth Magaziner is proud of the arrangement, saying, “We are sending a message to the world that Providence, Rhode Island, is ready to host the most important and exciting events nationally,” fans online are clearly of a different opinion.

One of the fans going by the username River Cracraft Fan Club wrote- “Couldn’t give our future soldiers some better conditions? Pathetic.” The Federal Emergency Management Agency stretched across three of the convention center’s halls, along with mobile shower units and heaps of towels gathered from Ocean State Job Lot.

Lindsay another X user tapped in to share her views on the same. She wrote- “Wait. Really?” as the news of enclosed spaces came on and she couldn’t believe her eyes.

There was one particular fan who highlighted that the fans should’ve been assigned separate hotel rooms. The whole idea of bringing nearly 700 young cadets to the convention center. Harold Maron gave his two cents saying- “WHATTTTTTTT no hotel Wow”.

There were also some mixed reactions in the build-up to the proceedings as things didn’t sit well with the fans. Perhaps the best reaction came from Rich Nurse who pointed out “At a glance, I thought it was squid games,” comparing the arrangement and room settings to the Netlflix’s show.

The midshipmen are only arriving for one night, but months have gone into preparation for their arrival. General Manager Larry Lepore reportedly said, “These came from FEMA from the state, they are not the most luxurious cots, but the navy commander said if they can’t sleep on them, then they’re not tired.”
