Patrick Peterson was given a one-day contract by his beloved Cardinals to retire as a Cardinal. His task was to reveal the Cardinals’ day 2 draft picks at the 2025 NFL draft. After not playing the 2024 season, Peterson chose to hang up his cleats for good after 13 seasons in the NFL. He may have spent his last 3 years with the Vikings and the Steelers. But Peterson still remains a true Cardinals legend, having spent his first 10 years with the Redbirds. Well, among those 10 years, his last two saw him share the same locker room with now the face of the Cardinals franchise, Kyler Murray. However, for some on-the-field and off-the-field antics, Peterson is yet to mend bridges with Cardinals star QB Kyler Murray.

To understand their complicated relationship, let’s go back to 2022. Peterson was with the Vikings, and before their game against the Cardinals, he predicted how he would intercept Murray twice. His confidence came from their time together in Arizona, but once the game arrived, his prediction didn’t come true. But it still didn’t stop Peterson from mocking Murray when one of his teammates instead intercepted his former QB’s pass. He tried to make a mockery out of Murray’s gaming talents by pretending to hold a controller. Then, sat on the end zone imitating Murray’s meditation celebration while asking others to join him.

After those incidents, Peterson tried throwing Murray’s character under the bus publicly on his podcast. He once said to his listeners of the All Things Covered podcast back in 2022, “Kyler Murray don’t care about nobody but Kyler Murray.” Soon after his comments went viral, Murray also gave his fiery response. He wrote on X, “This isn’t true..you on some weird (expletive). Peterson, you got my number. If you really felt like this as a big bro or mentor you supposed to call me and tell me, and not drag me so your podcast can grow.”

But later on, Peterson only spilled more fuel on an already burning fire. He told reporters that his comments came from certain things he didn’t like. “What I meant by my comment was when you’re a franchise quarterback, you have to carry yourself a certain way. So when you have bad body language, pouting and moping on the sideline, what type of energy do you think that feeds to your teammates? That’s what I meant by, Kyler cares about himself. He’s not putting team first.” Well, since their feud almost three years ago, Peterson was asked to give the latest update on his relationship with Murray.

The 8-time Pro Bowl cornerback simply said on the Up & Adams show, “There’s no relationship there.” However, he did add, “But there will be…I left a note in his locker room when I left. Just telling him how the team is going to be as successful as he leads them to..He has been doing a much better job of his body language, his leadership, and it’s just going to continue to make that team that much better.” Murray is yet to respond to Peterson’s comments. But judging by the future Hall of Famer’s current stance on Murray, it’s only a matter of time before the two mend their bridges.

While we wait for their update, Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon has revealed something exciting for the Cardinals fans surrounding Kyler Murray’s soon-to-be biggest weapon, Marvin Harrison Jr.

Jonathan Gannon makes a bold prediction on Marvin Harrison Jr.

Picked 4th overall in the 2024 NFL draft, Harrison Jr. was expected to be a focal point in the Cardinals’ offense last year. However, it turned out to be quite an underwhelming rookie season for Marvin. His 62 catches on 116 targets for 885 yards were ranked fifth among other rookies last season. Brian Thomas Jr led the rookie receiving charts with 1,282, followed by Malik Nabers (1,204), Brock Bowers (1,194), and Ladd McConkey (1,149). McConkey, for instance, was pretty effective on fewer targets with Justin Herbert in Los Angeles. He apparently generated 264 more receiving yards from just four fewer targets while hauling in an additional 20 catches.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Patrick Peterson and Kyler Murray finally bury the hatchet for the Cardinals' sake?

Have an interesting take?

As for Harrison Jr., his chemistry with Kyler Murray was a bit off. He only generated over 90 receiving yards in just 3 games. While going fewer than 40 yards in 7 games. But this year, Gannon believes Harrison will step up for sure. Having seen his offseason conduct, Gannon can only speak highly of his sophomore receiver. “This guy played unbelievable ball for us. But if you talk to him, he’d be the first to tell you, like I need to get better at these couple things, and man, he has went to work on the..He looks awesome out there right now. I’m really excited to see where his game goes.”

Harrison has bulked up a little this offseason to ensure he can run through those bully corners. Gannon feels that’s gonna surely give him an edge this year. “He looks a little bit bigger. All his numbers, his metrics, are all better than we got him. I’m not gonna speak truth into the universe, but just wait until this guys plays this year,” Gannon shared. Well, only time will tell how Harrison Jr. will step up in 2025. Given that the Cardinals haven’t added another star receiver to their roster. Harrison will have another clear shot at cementing his status as the Cards’ WR1.
