The Atlanta Falcons may have a reason to celebrate after the last victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But the game is causing trouble for Falcons quarterback Desmond Ridder’s reputation, as his performance seems to be slipping. Shannon Sharpe has a raw opinion to share about head coach Arthur Smith and his QB.

The 2023 NFL regular season hasn’t seen any coach firing incidents yet, but Shannon Sharpe feels there’s one impending after close observation of the Falcons QB over the last two games. While the Falcons won against the Bucs 16-13, it was unimpressive, considering the fumbles that Desmond Ridder made. The retired Denver Broncos tight end makes his predicament known on social media.

Shannon Sharpe predicts the future of the Atlanta Falcons’ head coach and quarterback

Following the recent game between the Falcons and Buccaneers, Shannon Sharpe took to Twitter to express that Desmond Ridder could be pulling himself and his coach away from the NFL. The 55-year-old former NFL star posted, “Desmond Ridder is going 2 get himself cut and Arthur Smith fired. He’s had 2 terrible turnovers that took pts off the board.

The Atlanta Falcons defeated the Bucs in Week 7 with 16-13. It almost seemed like an easy game with Ridder and his team-leading 401-329. But he made three fumbles in the game and six turnovers in the previous two games.

This season, Desmond Ridder’s stats are 1,630 yards and six touchdowns for seven games. Falcons’ head coach Arthur Smith said of Ridder’s fumbles, “We’ll find a way to fix it, I promise you. It’s his 11th start, just got a good win. Let’s give the team some credit. We found a way to win. He’s tough. He’s a winner.

With a record of 4-3, the Falcons are 1st in the NFC South, although they’re barely winning their games. And if they win the NFC South with Ridder as QB, coach Arthur Smith can remain with the league. But if Ridder puts his sluggish performance up, it could be time for him and Arthur Smith to bid farewell to the Falcons.

Ridder’s fumbles during Falcons vs Buccaneers Week 7 game

Desmond Ridder made three fumbles in the last game, but fortunately for the team, they went on to win the game with a close call. The Falcons made five trips to the red zone and scored only one touchdown. Ridder’s first fumble was when Shaq Barrett shoved the ball out of his hand from the 11-yard line before halftime.

In the third quarter of the game, with the teams tied at 10-10, Ridder committed the second fumble by failing to handle Drew Dalman’s snap and letting the ball fall to the ground for the Bucs to maneuver with ease. The third fumble came in the fourth quarter as Ridder foiled another first-and-goal opportunity by slowing before reaching the end-zone. Antoine Winfield Jr. took this chance to snap the ball out of his hands for another game twist.
