One person’s sunset gives birth to another person’s sunrise. In this case, NFL on Fox’s lead color commentator Greg Olsen is stepping aside to let retired NFL superstar Tom Brady take his spot, which will take effect in the 2024 season. A former NFL TE, Greg Olsen played for 14 seasons and was the first-round selection of the Chicago Bears in the 2007 NFL Draft.

Greg Olsen also holds the NFL record as the first pro league TE to record three straight seasons with 1,000+ receiving yards. Since his retirement as a player in 2020, he became a sportscaster on Fox and became a face we all came to know and love. While not much is held against his successor, Twitterverse is going crazy over the prospect of losing such a fine NFL commentator prematurely.

The 38-year-old current NFL on Fox commentator is set to leave while the iron is hot. According to a recent tweet, “This is Greg Olsen’s last NFL broadcast as Fox Sports’ top game analyst.” Tom Brady will be taking over his role next season as part of the 10-year $375M contract that he signed with Fox after the 2021 campaign. Fans on X expressed their sadness as they sang his praises in their statements, “Greg Olsen is so damn good as an analyst.”

For Tom Brady, who remains an unrivaled NFL great with seven Super Bowls, success finds him on and off the field. He recently said on his Let’s Go Podcast, “I’ve got a big broadcasting job that’s going to start in September I’m already working hard on trying to make sure I’m ready for that opportunity, and I’m prepared mentally and emotionally for that challenge.”

It’s not breaking news because it has been looming since the 2021 campaign. But, with it about to happen, fans of the NFL world have a lot to say about the change with one saying, “Greg Olsen is the 1.01 commentator in the NFL. He should be announcing every big game.”

Everybody is sad to see Olsen go as another wrote, “Nothing against Tom Brady but as fans we deserve more years of Kevin Burkhardt & Greg Olsen. Shame this could be the last quarter of it.”
