Terry Bradshaw has made a few errors on live television throughout the 2024 regular NFL season. Like when he mixed up the order of the recaps, as he discussed the return of Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb while plays from the Buffalo BillsTennessee Titans game were shown. Now, as the 2025 NFL season kicks off, Bradshaw has made another pair of on-air fumbles. And it came while breaking down one of the season’s first games. Kansas City Chiefs vs. Los Angeles Chargers.

On the very first broadcast of the season. With his co-host Michael Strahan and Rob Gronkowski joining the desk as a replacement for Johnson. Analyzing the Chiefs’ 27-21 loss to the Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil. Bradshaw didn’t mince words about Andy Reid’s squad. He credited the Chiefs’ second-half push but then stumbled into a gaffe that had viewers buzzing. “I thought the second half the Chiefs came back, I thought they played well. All in all, I thought the second half, the Chiefs came back. But San Diego was very impressive.”

“San Diego?” Realizing the mistake, Bradshaw leaned on host Curt Menefee to laugh it off. The Chargers had moved back from San Diego to Los Angeles after the 2016 season. And that wasn’t the only blunder.

Later in the broadcast, Bradshaw was tasked with calling highlights from Washington’s 21-6 win over the New York Giants. As he closed the package, the old name slipped out: “All Redskins, 21-6 over the New York Football Giants.” The word hung in the air. Just another honest mistake from a man whose slips of the tongue have become almost part of his persona. Still, with debates raging about whether the franchise should revert to its old identity… And even President Donald Trump weighing in… Bradshaw’s slip only added fuel to the discourse.

At this point, fans almost expect Bradshaw’s highlight reels to include a hiccup or two. But this season carries a different weight. Back for his 32nd year on FOX NFL Sunday, Bradshaw addressed the absence of his longtime colleague Jimmy Johnson and opened up about his own future.

Is Terry Bradshaw hinting at his own exit?

On FOX NFL Sunday, Terry Bradshaw addressed the empty seat left by Jimmy Johnson with his usual humor. “You know Jimmy’s not with us anymore. He’s retired, and Gronk’s in his stead. So what that means is with the age difference, we’re saving about 60 years, so this group has all of a sudden gotten younger.” But the joke quickly turned serious when Bradshaw revealed his own plan: “and that gives me another two years.” With only two years left on his current contract, the Hall of Famer hinted that he may step away once the deal runs its course.

Johnson left the panel at 82, and while Bradshaw is four years younger, his comments suggest he doesn’t plan to stretch his run quite as long. Across three decades at FOX, he’s shaped the very identity of the NFL studio show. Balancing sharp analysis with the same personality that once defined him on the field. Bradshaw has become synonymous with pregame football television. Collecting three Sports Emmy Awards along the way, but even icons eventually start thinking about retirement someday.
