The GOAT might have retired, but his legacy lives on. In recent times, however, the induction of yet another legendary quarterback has left the NFL world divided in opinions. While many have maintained their stance, others have sided with the Kansas City star, Patrick Mahomes. 

In a recent episode of Club Shay Shay, former NFL player Cam Newton was faced with a hypothetical scenario: in the last drive of the game, with two minutes left on the clock and needing to go 80 yards for a game-winning touchdown, who would he choose between Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, both in their prime? Cam’s answer was unequivocal.

Cam Newton chooses Tom Brady! He explained that while Mahomes has had a significant impact on the game; it does not compare to the GOAT. Brady’s influence was different. When playing against Brady, Newton reflected, “It was like the game is never over.” As a quarterback, Newton opined that one never wanted to get distracted by the opposing offense because with Brady, there always seemed to be too much time left. Cam emphasized Brady’s consistent ability to get the job done, irrespective of the fact of whether he had elite support or not. He further recalls how the audience would interact with Brady, chanting his name as he took the field, “that type of impact I don’t think the game will ever see.”
