Is the Bill Belichick era coming to an end? Ever since the 71-year-old stepped down from his position as the New England Patriots HC, he’s been unable to land himself another NFL job. After the Atlanta Falcons chose Raheem Morris over the 6x SB winning coach, this may be his first time without being a head coach since 2000. 

Surprise is the key focus right now! Because this surely shouldn’t be the fate of a legend who’s widely considered as one of the greatest head coaches of all time. Playing under Belichick for 19 seasons, Tom Brady gives his verdict on his former HC’s bleak situation.

In the latest episode of the Let’s Go podcast, Tom Brady gets real about his thoughts on his former HC Bill Belichick. He said, “I’m surprised that the greatest coach ever doesn’t have a job.” But for the 46-year-old who spent 23 seasons as an NFL player, this isn’t the only surprise that the league startled him with.

Tom Brady added, “I’m surprised by a lot of things in the NFL.” The 7x SB winner went on to make a big reveal when he was a free agent. Despite being a legendary QB who ultimately became the NFL GOAT, he admitted, “I’m surprised when I was a free agent, there was a lot of teams that didn’t want me.” The NFL can be full of surprises! But the main question is why is Bill Belichick still jobless despite his killer resume?

Bill Belichick is one of the two HCs without a job in 2024

With the Seattle Seahawks and the Washington Commanders hiring their HCs, the HC vacancy has closed. Bill Belichick is left without a coaching job in 2024. According to The Athletic, it could be due to three possible reasons – His mishandling of Patriots QB Mac Jones’ situation, his desire to take full control over football operations, and the challenge he faces to connect with new-gen players.

Tom Brady’s infamous departure from the Patriots has been tinged with power struggles between him and Belichick. According to reports, the NFL GOAT wanted to deliver his input to the team but Belichick wasn’t willing to let that happen which ultimately led to their separation. But honestly, being a head coach can come with so many challenges. Considering his age and his last 23 years as HC, it might do good for Bill Belichick to take a well-deserved break in 2024.
