“This has been, this has been absolutely beautiful., I can’t believe it comes to an end. You guys have been absolutely, absolutely beautiful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I love you guys, I love you guys. What can I say… ‘Mamba Out.'” The late NBA legend Kobe Bryant said this while ending his farewell speech on April 14, 2016. Surprisingly, he also scored a staggering 60 points in the game of his career. Truly greatest. But God has no mercy; within 4 years after his retirement, Kobe Bryant left the material world. On January 25, 2020, he died in a helicopter crash with his daughter, Gianna Bryant. The world is still in shock to believe this was real. And NFL legend Tom Brady is no exception to this.

One month after Kobe’s death, the Patriots legend shared a document (Feb 25, 2020) on X (then Twitter). The document said, “I have been deeply affected by the passing of Kobe, Gigi, and in that tragic flight weeks ago. Since then I have witnessed the well-deserved outpouring of love and support for the families.” Further in the post, Brady added, “In Kobe, we were able to witness the man in the arena. For many of us, sports show what we are made of, they define our personalities and emotions.” Well, he’s not wrong. Bryant was indeed a legend.

Brady’s gesture for Kobe along with NBA and basketball fans

Kobe Bryant’s daughter, who died with him in the tragic plane crash, was a basketball player as well. For that reason also, the WNBA pays tribute to the Lakers #24 apart from his 20 years of dedication to the sport. WNBA shared a post on X remembering two more basketball girls along with Gigi Bryant. “Today we remember our 2020 honorary draftees Alyssa Altobelli, Gianna Bryant, and Payton Chester 🧡,” WNBA wrote.

The Bucks Star Giannis Antetokounmpo also remembered Kobe along with WNBA and Tom Brady, saying, “It just made me believe a guy like him could believe I could compete for MVP. I was amazed. I worked extremely hard, I always worked hard, but it was extra motivation. Because it was somebody I looked up to. I always played with a chip on my shoulder, like the world was against me.”

Along with basketball stars, NFL star Russell Wilson also paid tribute to Kobe and his daughter on X, writing: “Kobe & Gigi ❤️🙏🏾 Psalm 147:3 ‘He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds’.”

The wounds are still deep. But as Tom Brady said, “MAMBA FOREVER,” the NBA legend is still alive in people’s hearts.
