Although born in California, Troy Aikman has been a Texas resident ever since he arrived at the Cowboys. A Cowboys legend, a 3-time Super Bowl champ. But Troy is famously known for being an unofficial hater of the Chiefs, especially Patrick Mahomes. I mean, he went on record to say “Talk to me when he has 33% of my Super Bowl Titles” in 2019. So, one can understand his pain by watching Mahomes not only equal his record but potentially break his record this year. While fans complain that he has biases towards the Kansas City Chiefs, Aikman’s personality beyond the sports world tells a different story—something country singer Wade Bowen recently vouched for.

Bowen brilliantly announced on Friday that his single “Friday Night” reached #1. In his IG story, the American singer thanked Texas Country Radio for playing his song. Surprise! Surprise! He also thanked Aikman for being featured in the song, revealing his true colors and saying that he values friendships. The collab, when it happened, was unexpected to almost everyone. The ESPN announcer also shared Bowen’s gesture via IG Story.

Just last September, the video of the song came out. It had Troy Aikman, setting the base for the song, by doing football commentary. Bowen’s song, written by Chase Bryant, explored a very common theme, often seen in real life. A former high school quarterback, reliving his memories of being young and falling in love with his girlfriend.

After releasing the video, the singer called Aikman a great person and said, “I’m so honored to not only know Troy, but to also call him a friend. He’s an amazing guy and shares a true passion for music.” That’s right. The former QB loves music.

Troy appeared in Shenandoah’s music video ‘Leavin’s Been A Long Time Comin‘ in 1992 and also featured on songs by Waylon Jennings and Toby Keith. He once lit his hometown, Henryetta, Oklahoma, by throwing a music festival party. For his accomplishments, he’s a great guy.

However, the NFL world has varied opinions about him, especially the Chiefdom. Whenever the legend says anything negative about their star QB, they usually have a firm stance. We saw it after the divisional game against the Texans.

Fans trolled Troy Aikman for his stance

The Chiefs have gained unwanted publicity for the level of officiating in their games. Most of their rival fans argue that the league favors Patrick Mahomes to win the Super Bowl and complete the 3-peat. They blame referees for making decisions that help the Chiefs. Troy Aikman is one of those.

While announcing the divisional game on Saturday, January 18th, he disagreed with a penalty decision and said, “Oh come on! He’s a runner, and I could not disagree with that one more. He barely gets hit. That’s the second penalty now that’s been called against the Texans.” The pain in his voice showed he wasn’t happy.

However, the Chiefdom didn’t like it. They attacked him on his comments. Some even accused him of hating Mahomes and being jealous because of his over-achievements. Showing their anger on social media, fans wrote, “Aikman can’t handle it,” and “No wonder Troy was so mad and wanted Mahomes to lose (laughing emoji).” Not only this! One fan even questioned, “Why does Troy hate Patrick so much? He’s such a good dude…” To which someone else replied, that it’s because “he’s jealous” of Patrick Mahomes.

For those of you who don’t know, The Athletic Kansas City wrote in 2019 that the Chiefs QB had 36% of Aikman’s career TDs in 8% of games. The Cowboys legend had retorted back then by writing, “iCYMI: Talk to me when he has 33% of my Super Bowl Titles.

Fast forward 6 years, Mahomes not only equalized 3 Super Bowls, but is on the verge of his 4th, and a 3-peat. If he does that, he would stand apart from all the quarterbacks in the league ever. It has never happened. For Patrick Mahomes, the Arrowhead will be cheering him on. But in the TV booth, he might not receive the same support.

CBS will have Tony Romo announcing the game, who once called Josh AllenMr. January.’ So, the Grim Reaper has plenty of people to prove wrong. Can he do it? There’s no glory without guts. So, Chiefdom is backing him to do the unthinkable.
