“Typical Cam Newton Behavior”: TSP Coach Breaks Silence on Violent Brawl at the 7-on-7 Tournament

NFL star Cam Newton’s recent altercation went viral after a heated game. The video of the tussle showed him manhandling several individuals. Since the video went viral, many people have come forward either in support or criticism of the ex-Panthers QB.

In a clip of “The Art of Dialogue”, performance coaches Stephon and TJ Brown shed light on the altercation. TSP aka Top Shelf Performance shared their lengthy statement explaining the context of the brawl. They apologized for the unprofessional scenario and shared their side of the story.

In the interview clip, the interviewer queries what could evoke such anger despite Cam Newton’s community contributions. For which TJ Brown apologized to everyone out there. He said, ” First and foremost like what I want to do…I want to apologize to everybody that was out there. The parents of not just our team but everybody that was affected by.” He also added, “Like we should have been able to sit down and talk like there’s no reason we should be yelling at each other while a game going on.” 

Expressing disappointment, the coach further highlighted Newton’s behavior. He even stated it was ” typical Cam Newton behavior”. According to him, Cam Newton just doesn’t have a team but a whole organization and should have been more responsible. While explaining the situation, Brown referred to Newton and said, “Just out of nowhere, talking crazy to us for no reason.”

While TSP is ready to shift the entire blame on Newton, Newton hasn’t come out with his side of the story yet. Here’s TSP’s full account of their side of the altercation.

Brawl breakdown: Was Newton the spark here?

According to their version, it appears that Newton taunted TSP athletes. His “typical behavior” served as the catalyst for the entire incident. During the interview, it was revealed that Steph approached the scene while Newton was speaking. TJ further mentions, “And as I’m walking up the step Cam’s in Steph face….and he grabbed Steph”. That’s when TJ Brown stepped in to assist Steph. As tensions rose, six individuals ended up restraining Newton, and this entire incident was captured in widely circulated footage.

The statement asserts that only the two coaches, TJ and Steph of TSP, were engaged in the altercation. TJ stepped in to help his ‘bro’ who was grabbed by Newton. Although the coaches’ presence might have made things worse, they blame Newton’s behavior. However, Newton didn’t physically initiate the brawl or punch anyone.
