Former NFL quarterback and FOX Sports analyst Mark Sanchez was gearing up to cover the upcoming Indianapolis Colts and Las Vegas Raiders clash in Week 5. However, his trip to Indianapolis took a dark and unexpected turn.

As per reports by TMZ, Mark Sanchez became the victim of a stabbing incident and had to be hospitalized with severe injuries. Indianapolis officials were reportedly alerted about the incident around 12:30 AM on Saturday, October 4. Sanchez, along with one other victim, was found in a street in downtown Indianapolis.

Upon their arrival, the authorities reportedly discovered one victim with stab wounds, and another “who was injured during a physical altercation.” As Fox 59’s Justin Powell reports, “One was reported to be in critical condition, while the other was ‘awake and breathing,’ according to the police.” As of now, the reason behind this incident is still unknown, but there has been a major update regarding Sanchez’s condition.

Shortly afterwards, FOX Sports PR issued the following statement: “Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition. We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time.” This latest update comes as a major relief to Sanchez’ family and close ones.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department have also issued a statement after the incident, noting, “Detectives believe this was an isolated incident between the two men and not a random act of violence.” As the news of this incident broke, the entire NFL community gathered together in solidarity to share their support for Mark and his family.
