Aside from Kacy’s words, the Jauron family has spoken little about the famed coach’s passing. Kacy Jauron took to Facebook to reveal, “We are so incredibly devastated to share the news that my dad has passed away. The past week has been one awful nightmare after another… The pain that I and everyone else who loved him is feeling right now is completely immeasurable. The very best son, brother, friend, teammate, husband, father, coach, HUMAN that we were all so lucky to love.”

The Jauron family, as well as the entire NFL world, are going through a difficult moment. Dick Jauron was a legend for many things he accomplished. Let’s take a look at some of them in a brief career summary.

From a small safety to Coach of the Year in 2001

Dick Jauron began his NFL career as a free safety for the Lions in 1973. The man was on the squad for five years, and boy, did he have an influence. Jauron became a great player because of his grandiose plans on the field, but the Lions did not renew his contract post that. Following this, the man joined the Bengals, where he played for the final few years of his career. He opted to hang up his boots in 1980, but his sporting spirit remained.

After that, he began coaching with the Bears in 1999. Dick Jauron was named Coach of the Year after the Bears had a successful season with 13 wins and three losses in 2001. In 2005, he was named interim coach for his first team, the Lions, before finishing his head coaching career with the Bills in 2009.
