“Your Own QB”: Retired WR Antonio Brown Takes Aim at Former Teammates’ Play Calling Ability in His Amusement

Antonio Brown just struck a chord with his former teammates again by hitting a line of controversy. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver is sitting out of the season after his controversial exit from the Bucs in 2022. But his break in the NFL doesn’t stop him from making headlines. 

The disputable star is still nursing a fresh wound from his time spent with Bruce Arians’ team. However, he isn’t reserved in letting the world know how he felt mistreated by the star QB Tom Brady and his former team. And now he’s back throwing shades at his former QB in one of his statements. 

Former Buccaneers’ WR Antonio Brown still holding grudges

Recently, Antonio Brown tweeted a post that threw fire at none other than Tom Brady, formerly the Buccaneers’ quarterback. He posted, “It be your own QB tell you this play for you then throw it else where.” He followed up the sentence with three laughing emojis. 

Everything changed for Antonio Brown during a match against the New York Jets at the MetLife Stadium. He left the game midway and walked off the field shirtless. His antics caused turmoil in the NFL and became a hot discussion around the whole football fraternity.

Following this incident, the Super Bowl champion broke the silence on Tyreek Hill‘s podcast about his behavior. He revealed his resentment over the team being indifferent to his ankle injury. He also indicated the pressure he received from then-Bucs teammate and football legend Tom Brady.

In the podcast, he stated, “Tom called me like ‘Yo this week man the Jets man, they sweet man imma hit you with like 10 to 12 (targets).” Brown took it personally, considering that he had only five targets even in the third quarter, and his ankle was injured. Leaving the game midway, former Bucs head coach Arians said Brown was “no longer a Buc” when the game got over.

The 4-time First-Team All-Pro admitted that he has a football relationship with Tom Brady. He said that they don’t have “a lot in common besides being great at football.” But when Brown first joined the Bucs in 2020, it was the 7-time Super Bowl champion who took him under his wings.

Tom Brady gave Brown his family home for a temporary stay when he joined the New England Patriots and the Bucs later. However, elaborating their current status as former teammates, Brown said, “Life goes on, we don’t hate no one, there’s no negative energy… We all have a stint in each other’s life and life goes on.

Antonio Brown’s debut in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers came with much promise and prospect. While he was one of the most influential wide receivers of his time, only time shall tell if he’ll decide to come back to the NFL with a sensational return, just like his dramatic exit.
