LeBron James became the NBA’s all-time greatest scorer last night. James went past Lakers legend Kareem Abdul Jabbar with his 38,388th point. Consequently, the Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma Thunders game last night was a hotbed of stars from all over. However, one big name in the NFL world wasn’t present to witness the historic feat. It was none other than Patrick Mahomes, who sent his congratulations to ‘King’ James from his home.
Mahomes has a Super Bowl to play in four days and couldn’t make the trip to Crypto Arena for the live-action where Jabbar was surpassed by the former Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat legend. And the entire sporting world paused for a moment to salute the ‘King’ and his efforts.

Mahomes knows a thing or two about breaking records. The QB, since his start in the NFL in 2017, has become the fastest quarterback to reach 5000, 10,000, 15,000, and 20,000 passing yards. However, he has ways to go before surpassing the NFL records held by the gridiron’s G.O.A.T. and recently retired Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady.

“Thank you to the Lakers’ faithful. You guys are one of a kind,” LeBron said in an emotional speech after setting the historic milestone.
However, some Mahomes fans pointed out his interview from earlier this week, when he finally gave his verdict on the Michael Jordan and LeBron James NBA G.O.A.T. debate. During the interview, Pat went the diplomatic route, picking Jordan for playoff series games and LeBron for the regular season.

Mahomes will face Jalen Hurts as the first two black quarterbacks to match up for a Super Bowl game. And knowing how vocal LBJ is about issues pertaining to his community, it’s hard to say which QB the Lakers legend will be rooting for. However, LBJ has publicly praised Hurts before and maybe Philly will get the James vote.
