In order to be a sporting great, it’s not enough to only excel on the court or the field. There are multiple variables responsible for career longevity when it comes to athletes. Someone who understands that pretty distinctly is former NFL troublemaker Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones. Someone who is yet to grasp the importance of off-field activities is Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant. And the former Tennessee Titans cornerback has a simple solution to all of Morant’s recurring problems.
Pacman relayed the same advice to Ja Morant that an NFL team owner and franchise icon had told him many years ago. It is a piece of advice that Jones believed changed the trajectory of his career. And he is certain it’s going to work wonders for Ja Morant as well.

This week, the Grizzlies superstar flashed a gun on Instagram Live for the second time in two months. The first incident from March handed Morant an eight-game suspension. This time’s suspension and punishment are still pending league review. However, the suspensions have cost Morant a massive $39 million loss due to his non-selection for the All-NBA team. Adam Jones can relate to Ja Morant, given the rocky past the return specialist had.
“I’ve been down this road. If I could just have a one-on-one conversation with him, the first thing I would tell him is get rid of everybody that’s riding in your car,” Pacman addressed the viral video of Morant flashing a gun in his vehicle.

He further elaborated on the Morant’s gun incident, “I am not shooting at you. I am just talking to you as a big brother. That’s not a crime to have a gun. You have the right to have a gun.
“But a wise man told me, ‘Hey, man! If you ever want to be successful (…) you gotta stop doing sh*t and put you a** out on the streets,” said Pacman.
He closed the case with what he deemed to be the solution. He said, “Kids are looking up to you. At a certain point in time, you gotta figure out what you wanna do. If you’re scared for your safety, go get yourself a f**king security guard.”
How Jerry Jones Rescued Pacman’s Career
To give readers an idea of just how problematic Pacman was in his prime, the CB holds the infamous record for being arrested more times than any other NFL player in this century. Pacman also faced suspension for the entire 2007 season and a portion of the 2008 season after he broke the NFL player conduct policy.

“At the time, I didn’t understand. It took me a year. I got everything taken away from me. And then I understood what Jerry was saying,” Pacman added, before delving into the tremendous gratitude he shares for the billionaire owner.
