Over his remarkable 14-season career, Sharpe became the record-holder for tight ends in catches, yards, and touchdowns. With six receiving titles for the Broncos and one for the Ravens, he achieved first-team All-Pro and All-AFC recognition in multiple years, making the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 1990s. Transitioning from the field, he entered a broadcast career in 2004 as a commentator for CBS Sports, The NFL Today, and ESPN’s “Undisputed.” Now in an unexpected turn, Sharpe left a $50 billion company, only to find support from another renowned television personality for a new venture.

Shannon Sharpe to join ESPN?

Pro Football Hall of Famer and three-time Super Bowl champion Shannon Sharpe is set to join First Take, ESPN’s flagship morning debate show featuring Stephen A. Smith and host Molly Qerim. During the football season, he’ll contribute every Monday and Tuesday. Sharpe’s inaugural appearance on First Take will be a head-to-head debate with Smith for the full two hours on September 4 and 5. This timing follows Week 1 of college football and aligns with the kickoff of the NFL regular season.

NBA analyst, Stephen A. Smith, expressed his excitement, stating, “It never hurts to have a 3-time Super Bowl Champion and Hall of Famer on the show. And it definitely doesn’t hurt to have a friend. Shannon is not only a great talent, but a good man, as well…I’m just thankful he accepted my invitation to join First Take…” Sharpe announced the news, “I’m excited to announce this fall I’ll take my on air talents to ESPN’s First Take and debate my friend Stephen A. Smith. We’re both graduates of HBCU’s, very opinionated and animated. GET YOUR POPCORN READY.
