Tom Brady is currently playing his last season for the Bucs, as he will become a free agent after the end of the season. Moreover, there were plenty of rumors circulating regarding Brady returning to the New England Patriots and reuniting with his former coach, Bill Belichick. However, many fans urged him to retire after the end of the season. Now, former NBA player Jay Williams also expressed the same sentiment.

Notably, Jeff Howe of the Athletic recently posted an article, which suggested a possible return of the 7-time Super Bowl winner. Apart from this, Howe also suggested some other possible destinations for Brady, which also became a hot topic of discussion.

Jay Williams wants Tom Brady to retire

During a recent ESPN show, Jay Williams made his stance clear about Brady returning once again to the Patriots. “I’d rather see Tom Brady retire than see him back at the Patriots… I don’t want to see him get beaten up and taken off the field in a cart,” Williams said about Brady.

Then, Williams had a hot debate with other experts, Max Kellerman and Keyshawn Johnson, about Brady and Belichick. According to Williams, Belichick will appreciate Brady if he decides to return to New England.

“Tom Brady won a chip without Bill Belichick. Bill Belichick has one playoff win without Tom Brady. If that led to multiple playoff wins, Bill Belichick would probably have an advantage with Tom Brady returning,” Williams further said.

Notably, Brady and Belichick’s duo started their journey back in 2000, which ended in 2019. During their time with the Patriots, they won 6 Super Bowl titles together and became the most successful quarterback-coach duo in the history of the NFL. Apart from 6 Super Bowls, they also won 17 Division titles and 9 AFC titles.

Many believe Belichick won those titles because of Brady, and others believe Brady would not have become this successful without Belichick. However, a majority of people believe they needed each other to succeed at the highest level.
