With Week 1 just concluding, the hosts discussed mental toughness. Brady, who’s widely regarded as the greatest quarterback of all time, drew an important distinction between mental and emotional toughness. And how anger can be used as a driving force on the field.

Mental toughness has more to do with intellect, than with what’s going on in your brain,” the QB said. He acknowledged that emotions regulate many aspects of our behavior. And how he uses these emotions to motivate himself to give it his all whenever he’s on the field.

The secret sauce, he reveals, is that he gets himself angry. He doesn’t look at anger as a negative emotion, but as a means to achieve an end. Anger gets him motivated and gives him a heightened sense of awareness and focus. Giving examples of personalities such as Kobe, Michael Jordan, and Tiger Woods and their ability to zone in and get super focused.
