In a country dominated by football and other sports, America is set to invite a new league. The country has showered love on various sports, from developing the NFL and NBA to expanding WWE and UFC worldwide. Ice Hockey and Tennis have grown into one of the biggest sports with a huge fan following among Americans. Their growth will provide hope to one of the most popular sports in the world as they step into the US.

The global footprint left by its rising popularity will provide hope that it could do the same in the States. In an update shared by NBC, American cricketers share their insights about the MLC and talk about the upcoming season.

The $2 Billion game is set to board the continent

Despite popular belief, Cricket is the second biggest sport in the world behind soccer. The stars of the newly formed franchises sat down with NBC to discuss the hype surrounding cricket and what it could mean in the USA. When asked about what America is missing in cricket, Lockie Ferguson of the LA Knight Riders responded, “I just think it hasn’t been here. So, the game of cricket hasn’t been exposed here.” 

Along with LA Knight Riders and San Francisco Unicorns, 4 other teams will participate in ‘Major League Cricket’. Teams are stretched across the country and will bring the fans the first-ever season of cricket in the upcoming summer. MLC will hope to capture the biggest fan bases around with franchises in LA and Washington to name a few. But can they hope to match the hype of the NFL?
