The up-and-coming generational quarterback still resonates with the GOATs as he sets on a new path in the NFL. He is the number 1 overall draft prospect for QBs and is surrounded by questions about his inspirations and role models as he looks to make a strong impression at the NFL Draft. His answers? They continue to please the fans who still hold the names of QBs like Brady and Rodgers close to heart.

Caleb Williams, the quarterback for the USC Trojans, was the heart and pride of the team in the 2023 season. He poured his all into leading his team to a CFP playoff spot, but the might of Washington crushed their dreams by a score of 52-42. Though the team didn’t fare well, the performance of Williams didn’t go unnoticed and he is now leading the race of draft prospects. But even before his arrival in the NFL, he’s constantly being compared to the Chiefs QB and being termed as ‘Patrick Mahomes 2.0’. Whereas Williams has proved time and time again that he only has two players he strives to be and neither of them is Mahomes.

It isn’t surprising that Williams is being met with a wave of comparisons as he’s touted to be the best college quarterback in the NCAA. Williams is constantly being compared to Patrick Mahomes, who is considered far and wide, the best quarterback in football currently but according to the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner, he isn’t doing anything extraordinary.

Williams spoke up on being compared to Mahomes and said, “Everybody watches Patrick [Mahomes] and sees all the cool things he can do. I always said, even in high school, that I don’t think there’s anything … obviously, it’s special, but I don’t think there’s anything that I can’t do that he’s doing out there. I think it’s really cool. Like I said, I have comparisons of a bunch of other people to have. Patrick is pretty cool.” Thus as the Draft draws near, Williams will start on his journey to have an equivalent amount of success as Mahomes, if not better.
