The NFL Draft is taking over the football world like a storm and names like Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and J.J. McCarthy sit atop it all. With more and more speculations indicating a change in the players’ draft stock, a coach’s recent compliment about Daniels is sure to increase his chances of being drafted at the earliest.

Jayden Daniels, the quarterback for the LSU Tigers, is a phenomenal talent who has been at the forefront of leading his team back in the 2023 season. The 23-year-old threw out 3,812 passing yards and finished over 40 impressive touchdowns. As such, it made sense when he overtook the likes of Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and J.J. McCarthy to win the Heisman Trophy. Now that he’s projected to be a top 3 pick at the 2024 Draft, here’s Daniels receiving an ultimate compliment from a college football coach.

Any quarterback who makes a name for himself in college football instantly draws comparisons to the Chiefs’ QB, Patrick Mahomes. Additionally, Mahomes, who stands at the epitome of success with 3 Super Bowl rings, is constantly being pitted against Caleb Williams and it seems like this time, it’s Daniels’ day in the sun.

As per an anonymous college football coach, Daniels is comparable to Patrick Mahomes, if not better. He said, “Outside of Patrick Mahomes, I haven’t coached against someone like this.” Daniels, who is projected to land with the New England Patriots at the number 3 pick is certainly making waves in the NFL but recently, he spoke up about most of the scouts overlooking his one particular trait.

Jayden Daniels talks about his one personality trait being overlooked

Daniels recently released a lengthy piece on Wednesday which was titled, “A Few Words For My People Who Got Me Here.” This was an emotional tribute to several people in Daniels’ life who contributed majorly towards his successful career, including his late grandparents. Later, in one paragraph, he talked about the NFL scouts often undervaluing his competitive spirit which tends to get overshadowed due to his calm demeanor.

Daniels wrote, “One thing that I think gets overlooked sometimes is that dog and that competitive edge in me. People don’t really get to see that side because of who I am as a person. I’m more reserved. I’m calm, I’m quiet. But I’m very competitive. I don’t back down from anything or anybody. So I worked hard for it, and I hoped God would meet my effort with a blessing.” Thus, after an exceptional Pro Day performance as well, Daniels is sure to have a bright future in the NFL, regardless of which team ends up drafting him.
