Like father like son. This saying seems to be a prevalent theme in the case of Brendan Rice. The son of the legendary Jerry Rice, Brendan Rice sure has big standards set for him ahead of his NFL career. While it isn’t confirmed where Brendan will end up in the NFL, the fans want him to follow in his father’s footsteps and come to the San Francisco 49ers.

Brendan Rice, the wide receiver for the USC Trojans, is a remarkable athlete who’s led his team to glory on several occasions. The number 12 player has over 45 receptions and completed 12 touchdowns in the 2023 season. And now that he’s bidding the Trojans goodbye, he will be heading to the NFL to live up to the Rice name and create his own legacy. Moreover, based on his clip from the NFL Combine, he doesn’t look too different from the way Jerry Rice used to play back in the day.

In the latest Instagram post by Brendan Rice, he showed a glimpse of his Combine performance where he was seen making excellent catches and running with sheer flexibility. He even posted a picture of him and his father Jerry, who came to support him during his ultimate test for the big league.

Rice captioned the post by writing, “1%,” which could both mean that the video is just one percent of his full Combine performance or that he thinks himself to be equivalent to one percent of his father’s remarkable skills and prowess. Either way, the fans have been persuading the youngster to be the next legendary Rice for the 49ers and sign with the team but Brendan has expressed in the past that he’d wish to be a part of the New England Patriots as his dream destination. It is obvious that every momentous thing that Brendan Rice does, will be compared to his father for the entirety of his career. And his workout at the NFL Combine received no different response. The clip prompted the fans to instantly draw similarities between the way Jerry Rice used to run and iterate it to Brendan.
