Everyone has divided opinions on the Chicago Bears’ potential first pick in former USC star Caleb Williams. The question remains – Should the Bears draft Williams or should they trade their first pick in the Draft and give Justin Fields another chance to improve his record with the Bears? The future still hangs on a thread of uncertainty.

Watch What’s Trending Now!

The Bears got the top draft pick after the Carolina Panthers traded with the Bears to select Bryce Young last year. The decision now remains uncertain because it could be either Fields or Williams leading the Bears the next season. With the lingering debate on, former NFL stars Robert Griffin III and Brian Urlacher both offer their viewpoints on the matter.

Robert Griffin III picks Fields over Williams for the Bears next season QB

Former Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher believes that it would do good for the Chicago Bears to pick Caleb Williams in the NFL Draft. But RG3 seems to have another thought on it as he believes that the Bears can still potentially improve their overall roster with Fields on the lead. He posted on X, “Let HC Matt Eberflus and Justin Fields compete for their Chicago Bears’ future next season with a better roster.”

According to RG3, the Bears are already facing trouble maintaining a good record as they finished 4th in the NFC North with 7-10. If they bring in a new QB, Caleb Williams in this case, and things refuse to turn around, the 22-year-old NFL rookie will have to play under a new HC in his second season, which could lead to chaos. For him, Fields’ future with the Bears will depend on several factors including the HC.

Justin Fields’ decision could depend on the coaching staff

RG3 previously said on ESPN’s Get Up!, “To me, this all boils down to what happens with the coaching staff. If you bring in a new coaching staff and you bring in a new GM, they’re probably going to get a new quarterback. If they keep the current staff, then they build around Justin Fields.” Fields considerably improved this season throwing for over 1,800 yards, 16 TDs, and 9 interceptions. His well-thrown percentage on “true” attempts rose from 75.6% in 2022 to 81.3% in 2023.

Chicago Bears’ General Manager Ryan Poles and HC Matt Eberflus are already in hot water given the team’s poor performance this season under their leadership. If they’re to leave, it would mark a third new HC and potentially a third new GM, which would be difficult for Justin Fields to remain with the Bears after such a turnover.
