In his post-conference speech, Coach Prime Deion Sanders admitted that the Colorado Buffaloes’ lack of discipline cost them in the last game against the Arizona Wildcats. The Buffs committed several penalties, eventually hampering their chance of winning a winnable game. But the interesting fact was that, weeks ago, former NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe pointed out this exact weak spot.

As a 3-time SB champion, Shannon Sharpe isn’t a stranger to football, and he could easily see the flaw in Colorado beyond what others saw as a powerful team. Unfortunately, the last game against Arizona brought to life the 56-year-old NFL legend’s fears.

A big part of Colorado’s loss in the last game with Arizona accounts for the number of penalties they received throughout the game. Head coach Deion Sanders was asked in his post-game conference speech, “Today it felt like it was those little things, some costly penalties, what goes into teaching the guys to eliminate those little mistakes.”

Deion Sanders goes on to say, “If you’re undisciplined off the field, you’re going to be undisciplined on the field.” In the past, Shannon Sharpe has pointed out that Colorado needs to work on their discipline because the lack of discipline on the field results in penalties, and penalties can really hamper the progress of the team’s performance. And Colorado just played his greatest fear on the field last night.

“I Don’t Break Them Up”: Coach Prime Deion Sanders Discloses What Makes Him Unique Among Coaches

Colorado sustained 11 penalties for 83 yards, which served as a serious hindrance to their success, as opposed to Arizona, who had eight penalties for 87 yards. As Coach Prime pointed out, at the end of the day, all “those little moments and those little penalties” add up to the outcome of the game.

Shannon Sharpe foretold Colorado’s disciplinary attitude

In October, Shannon Sharpe took to Twitter to pose his concerns about Coach Prime’s Colorado Buffaloes in regard to players’ discipline. After scrutinizing Colorado, he said, “Right now, Colorado is a very undisciplined football team.” And for every sports team, the lack of discipline leads to penalties. Sharpe said that penalties play a major factor in determining the game’s win/loss outcome.

Shannon Sharpe went on to suggest that the team should “get out of their own way” because Colorado isn’t going to win any game with double-digit penalties, which is exactly what they had in the last game against Arizona. Most of Colorado’s losses came from penalties, including games with the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Standard Cardinal.

Coach Prime Deion Sanders may have the best players on the field, but if Shedeur Sanders and his teammates don’t work on their discipline, it’s going to take a huge toll on their success. Hopefully, they’ll learn from their mistakes and be more careful in their future games.
