The LA Chargers aren’t going to keep silent over their recent acquisition of Jim Harbaugh as they glorified him in their first official statement. According to President of Football Operations John Spanos, “You don’t build a resume like Jim’s by accident, and you don’t do it by yourself. You need a team. And nobody has built a team more successfully, and repeatedly, in recent history than Jim Harbaugh.”

During his stint in Michigan, Harbaugh led the Wolverines to three back-to-back Big Ten Championships, three consecutive CFP appearances, and won the last season with an unblemished record of 15-0. Owner and Chairman of the Board Dean Spanos said, “Jim Harbaugh is football personified, and I can think of no one better to lead the Chargers forward.” The Chargers are justified in their high hopes for their new HC as the stats don’t lie.

As an NFL HC, Jim Harbaugh posted a record of 49-22-1 and 144-52 as a college football HC. He led the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014 to three consecutive NFC Championship Games, as well as a Super Bowl appearance in 2012. In 2011, he was named the NFL Coach of the Year by leading the 49ers in a 13-3 record to an NFC West Championship, raking in a nation-high rushing defense allowing only 77.4 yards per game.

Harbaugh’s nine seasons in Michigan proved his worth with an 86-25 overall record leading to an epic defense building that allowed only 291.0 yards per game. He coached nine first-round selections. Combined with his stint in the NFL, the 60-year-old coached 17 players to a combined 30 Pro Bowl selections, including NaVorro Bowman and Patrick Willis. His presence in LA might be able to help build the franchise that has been slacking with a sad 5-12 record in 2023 keeping them at the bottom of the AFC West at number 4.
