According to reports by journalist Albert Breer, the Bears are widely anticipated to choose Caleb Williams with the first overall pick. The host of Chicago Bears Now, Harrison Graham, said: “Not shocking at all. Caleb Williams leads the field overall and according to all signs. He sort of threw out there… The overwhelming consensus is that Caleb Williams, the top overall pick, will be selected by the Bears.

He continued: “The Bears Plan B, if something falls apart with Caleb Williams, is drafting another quarterback, which is why I think they were comfortable trading away Justin Fields when they did.”

Crucial dates are approaching regarding Caleb Williams. Graham said, “Now, some key dates coming up in regards to Caleb. His pro day is this Wednesday, March 20th. That’ll obviously be big. There will be a big Bears contingency there, no doubt about it. Shortly after that, Caleb Williams will have his top 30 visit at Halas Hall.”

“Not sure exactly when, not sure if there’s a date scheduled. I would guess within a week of that pro day. And then the NFL Draft, of course, April 25th through 27th, the 25th being Round One when the Bears are on the clock for the No. 1 overall pick.”

Fortifying the trenches

One area that gets extra attention is the defensive line, especially the edge rusher role. “We should expect a great deal from UCLA. This draft seems to have a large three at the edge, followed by a big drop off. Dallas Turner, Jared Verse, and much more are laid out for you to obtain a lot at 16 years old,” the host said. The Bears have found some excellent edge rushers who could immediately improve their pass rush.

The Bears are expected to draft QB Caleb Williams #1 overall but have a backup plan for another QB if that falls through. They also need an edge rusher like Laiatu Latu, offensive line help like Christian Haynes, and receiver depth like Javon Baker in the draft.
