Draft rumors are increasing as the 2024 NFL Draft continues to inch closer. While the projected No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears seem to have etched their bond in stone, the subsequent teams – the Washington Commanders and the New England Patriots – have yet to find a solution for their QB issues.

After Williams, the top QBs entering the draft are LSU’s Jayden Daniels, UNC’s Drake Maye, and Michigan’s JJ McCarthy. The Patriots suffered a poor season last year falling 4-13 at the bottom of the AFC East. Following this, long-time HC Bill Belichick announced his retirement from the team after 24 years. Ex-Patriots LB Jerod Mayo who has a Super Bowl win under his belt filled in the HC position and is poised to turn the dying offense around with their No. 3 overall pick. So, who’s the possible pick?

Is Jayden Daniels the favorite to land with the Patriots?

In a recent YouTube episode on Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams, former Patriots WR Chris Hogan made an appearance to discuss his take on the Patriots’ upcoming season. According to the 36-year-old, the Patriots could be better off without top QBs like Drake Maye and JJ McCarthy but his biggest bet is on drafting the LSU QB. He said, “I’m [with] Jayden [Daniels]. I do a podcast with Chris Price of the Boston Globe. He was there at LSU’s pro day. I think they had like 10 or 11 Patriots scouts down there. You’re not sending that many people down to a pro day unless you’re taking this kid with a third overall.”

The 2x Super Bowl champion has a great impression on Daniels who won ten different awards in 2023 including the Heisman Trophy, the Walter Camp Award, and being named the AP College Football Player of the Year. In his final collegiate season, Daniels recorded 3,800+ yards and 40 touchdowns while securing 1,100+ rushing yards and 10 rushing TDs. A lot of things point in his favor, but Hogan also cautioned, “This kid can do all the things in college and he can make all the throws at his pro day. But how good is he actually going to be in the NFL? Time will tell.” As Hogan said, the future of Daniels’ landing remains a mystery amid Patriots rumors.
